A Journey Toward Humility; Day Sixteen

Today’s humility principle is an important one. Here’s number sixteen:

16. Seeking always to build up others (Ephesians 4:29)

Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear (Ephesians 4:29).

There are three descriptors that Paul uses for speech here.

  1. It should be good for building up.
  2. It should fit the occasion.
  3. So that it should give grace to those who hear.

wordshavepowerOur pride or humility will always find a way to seep out of the cracks in our speech. What is in our heart will surely find a way into the light. This verse can serve as an excellent gauge to the level of pride in our heart. Does your speech prove a prideful heart or a humble heart?
